This weekend, we had the chance to bring Human Fall Flat - The Board Game to the public for the first time at the Kaunas Book Fair in Lithuania.
Alongside our published games Snake Clash and Fish ’em Up, we invited visitors to sit down at our table and try the prototype of our upcoming tabletop adaptation of Human Fall Flat.
From prototype to the table
We have been working on Human Fall Flat - The Board Game for quite some time, developing and testing different ideas to capture the chaotic, unpredictable and fun feeling of the video game around a tabletop.
But there is no better test than putting the game in front of people who have never played it before.
Throughout the weekend, visitors had the opportunity to play the prototype, experience how the game works, and most importantly, tell us how it feels to play.
We tested it with experienced board gamers, so-called “pro players”, families and children. Seeing how different groups approached the game gave us a lot of useful insights.
A table full of players
Our playtest table was busy throughout the entire weekend. There was a constant stream of people wanting to see what the game was about, sit down and give it a try.
And that was probably the most exciting part for us.
Watching people discover the game, laugh at unexpected situations and react to the chaos happening on the table gave us a much better understanding of what works - and what we can still improve.
We also received plenty of valuable feedback and suggestions. Some were about the rules and gameplay, while others gave us ideas about how to make the experience even more intuitive and enjoyable.
That feedback is extremely important at this stage of development. A prototype is never finished, and every playtest helps us move one step closer to the final game.
What Comes Next?
We are taking everything we learned in Kaunas back to the development table and will continue refining the game based on the feedback we received.
Our next big step will be SPIEL Essen 2026, where we will bring an improved version of the prototype and give even more people the chance to experience Human Fall Flat - The Board Game.
During the show, we are looking forward to meeting with potential distributors and publishers, as well as content creators, YouTubers and, of course, board game players from around the world.
It will be another great opportunity to playtest the game, collect feedback and introduce the project to people who may become part of its journey towards release.
