In Fish ’em Up, you and your friends take on the role of daring fishermen, casting a massive net in hopes of hauling in the biggest catch. On the surface, it’s a game of teamwork — everyone wants to catch fish together. But beneath the waves, a fierce competition is brewing. Each player wants to prove their skill, outsmart their opponents, and impress the locals. Will your team return with a legendary haul, or end up with nothing but a net full of trash and disappointment?

Players take turns adding cards to the shared Net, stacking them strategically on top of the existing cards. Each card type triggers special effects, such as gaining points, stealing points from rivals, or stealing cards. The more cards of the same type connected to the Net, the stronger their effects become. Players can also cover specific images to neutralize opponents’ cards, creating opportunities for clever combos, surprise reversals, and dramatic last-minute swings.

The game ends when the Boat card is drawn, and the player with the most points wins, crowned the ultimate fisherman. With each round, players must balance risk and reward, decide when to cooperate or betray, and adapt to the constantly changing Net.

How Fish ’em Up was born?

Fish ’em Up was born from a real-life problem – pollution in the Baltic Sea, which inspired the first idea for the game. The early prototype tells a symbolic story about marine life rising towards the polluted surface. The visuals were created using hand-drawn watercolors, which helped to convey a strong emotional atmosphere.
The project received great interest during the LT Game Jam and became the basis for further development. What started as a prototype grew into the ambitious project, where entertainment merges with a meaningful message.
